Workcred Executive Director to Speak at SES 2018 Annual Conference on Dynamic Diversity: Expanding the Future of Standardization

7/17/2018

Workcred executive director Roy Swift, Ph.D., will provide the closing keynote address on August 8, 2018, during The Society for Standards Professionals (SES) 67th annual conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The theme of this year's conference is "Dynamic Diversity: Expanding the Future of Standardization."

His closing address, "Realizing the Benefits of Creativity, Innovation, and Quality through Dynamic Diversity," will highlight various research findings and how they can be practically applied to the standards community. Findings support how diversity is linked to creativity and innovation, and shows that diversity is essential to the growth and prosperity of any organization.

Dr. Swift will also serve as an expert panelist at the post-conference workshop entitled, "Workforce Development and the Standards and Conformity Assessment Professional," on August 9. Dr. Swift will join other experts from Arias U.S., Egon Zehnder, National Electrical Manufacturers Association, and Rockwell Automation.

The post-conference session will be a free, interactive event focused on workforce development. With growing evidence that a mismatch exists between the skills possessed by much of the U.S. workforce and the skills required by U.S. employers, the session will highlight the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are needed for today's standards and conformity assessment professionals. The discussion will also cover important competencies that college graduates as well as new, mid-career, and senior professionals need to succeed in the 21st century standardization workforce.

Dr. Swift leads efforts at Workcred, established in 2014 as an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) affiliate, to strengthen workforce quality by improving the credentialing system.
