Shaping the Future of Work: Executive Director of Workcred Joins Newly Launched API Leadership Committee

Roy Swift, Ph.D., executive director of Workcred an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) affiliate, will join a cross-leadership committee that will collaborate to spread awareness about apprenticeship programs, as part of the recently launched Apprenticeship Powered by Industry (API) initiative.

Established by Maher & Maher, a human resource consulting and organizational development company, and the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), the initiative is a nationwide effort to scale the proven model of apprenticeship through registered apprenticeship programs and industry-recognized apprenticeship programs.

Dr. Swift will join leaders from other prominent organizations driving workforce solutions for employers across various sectors in the economy. He will share his insights as an advocate for the values associated with quality workforce credentialing in the U.S. marketplace. Along with Workcred staff, he frequently speaks throughout the U.S. in support of a competency-driven workforce credentialing ecosystem.

The committee members (read more on the API blog) will support the API's goals by:

  • Helping to identify ongoing workforce efforts that are providing solutions to employers' talent needs and helping to elevate apprenticeship as a leading talent solution
  • Providing expertise and feedback to help drive rapid expansion of apprenticeship in priority industries
  • Connecting project staff to networks or individuals that could help advance the project objectives
"I'm very pleased to join this esteemed committee to help strengthen the expansion of apprenticeships and to accelerate efforts that highlight the value of credentialing across major sectors of the U.S. economy," said Dr. Swift.
