Workcred, an affiliate of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) focused on advancing quality workforce credentials, is pleased to announce that Dr. George Westerman has joined the Workcred board of directors for a three-year term, effective immediately.

Westerman is a principal research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and founder of the Global Opportunity Forum (GOF). As a pioneering researcher on digital transformation, he has published papers in Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, and other top journals. During more than 20 years with MIT Sloan School of Management, he has written three award-winning books, including Leading Digital: Turning Technology Into Business Transformation. He focused the last five years of his career on helping employers, educators, and other groups to rethink the process of workforce learning around the world through the GOF and several research collaborations.

At Workcred, he will join like-minded talented leaders interested in solving the complexities of the U.S. credentialing system. Access his recent interview with Workcred in the Beyond the Resume podcast on Evaluating the Value of Credentials.

“I’m excited to be joining such a talented and diverse team at a time when credentials are exploding in popularity, but are currently under-assessed for credibility and value in the workplace,” said Westerman.

Workcred's mission is to strengthen workforce quality by improving the credentialing system, ensuring its ongoing relevance, and preparing employers, workers, educators, and governments to use it effectively.
