Building Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Programs in Healthcare

Supporting the expansion of high-quality apprenticeship programs and opportunities in healthcare, Workcred has joined a partnership with industry and academia to support industry-recognized apprenticeship programs (IRAPs), as part of a $12 million apprenticeship grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. The creation of IRAPs stem from a June 2017 Executive Order seeking to expand apprenticeships in the U.S.

Under the grant, Workcred, Dallas College, the American Hospital Association, and Bufflehead Strategies, LLC are working to co-develop curricula, training programs, structured on-the-job learning materials, competency models, and identify nationally-recognized certifications for apprentices in related healthcare professions to meet objectives of the newly created IRAPs. Specifically, Workcred will to help recruit and provide subject matter expertise in the development, deployment, and scaling of non-clinical healthcare IRAPs, including providing strategic insights and advice to develop and deploy IRAPs in a sustainable, nationwide model with related technical instruction and alignment of stackable/portable credentials.
